This is the point where I second guess my decisions

Every big project I tackle gets to the point where I start second-guessing my decisions. And I’m now at that point in the studio project. I finally finished all the larger projects in this room and now I have a bunch of medium-small-sized projects to complete the room. And it’s about time I start second-guessing myself.

I really like the way this room is coming together, but right now, it’s hard to tell with all my tools and stuff piled up everywhere. My desk is piled high with things that need to be sorted into cabinets. My work tables are full of tools and things I’m currently working on. So it’s a bit difficult to see through the clutter to see the actual room. But when I look past it, I really like how it all comes together.

But yesterday, I wondered if the large cabinet section I’m currently working on is too big, too pink, and too monolithic.

I knew I had to wait until it was done and trust the process and trust the vision. And the fact is, when a person is standing in an actual room, they never have the chance to see just that one section. While in the living room, one cannot help but see the mural wall and everything else. (Look messy if you can. ๐Ÿ˜€ )

And of course, once all the tools and supplies are cleared, that shelving unit stays in the room it’s stored in (after removing the storage closet), and the room looks clean and clutter-free. Very good.

I knew I had to wait before I started changing the plan. Office section is not yet complete so be patient. A window still needs a shadow to match other windows. I still need to install scones. And then I hang a multi-colored pendant light above the desk. The desk is white and gold and the office chair adds more color after being reupholstered.

So I know I have to be patient, but I still can’t think if the office cabinet area needs anything else. Maybe the desk chair needs more color than the solid green I had planned. Or maybe the area is calm in the middle of other colorful and busy areas. I don’t know.

After all, you can’t enter a room without seeing this huge cabinet sitting just inside the door.

One small change I would definitely make is to paint over that paint swatch cabinet black. I decided to be white instead of black. Black looks too harsh to me.

So before going down this rabbit hole of deciding what changes I want to make, I know I have to step up and trust the plan and trust the vision. And it will probably take me a day to clean the studio and remove all the clutter. It goes a long way in helping me see what changes (if any) really need to happen. If anything, I’m thinking the desk chair needs a colorful pattern to break up the heavy area of โ€‹โ€‹pink cabinets. But again, the pendant light takes care of that. I will wait and see and keep moving forward.
