Plans for the final (blank) wall in the studio

[ad_1]

Every day, I sit at my desk in the studio and stare at this huge blank wall across the room…

I had to laugh at myself this morning because I was conveniently forgetting that I still needed to paint the ceiling and two walls. I see these walls and ceilings every day and I’m used to seeing them like this. It’s like a person developing clutter blindness in their own home because they’re used to seeing cluttered stacks and piles.

Obviously, I still have to paint. But my mind always goes to decoration. And I’m constantly trying to figure out how in the world I’m going to finish this really big, long, blank wall. When they are not in use, my two large work tables sit against the wall, but I can only decorate this wall from table height up.

If I can find a way, there are three things I really want to include on this wall. First, I want a TV on the wall. That is the reason why the outlet is so high on the wall. I kept it exclusively for TV.

And third, I want to frame my spoonflower color map and display it somewhere. Once again, this wall is really the only place for this.

So as I sit at my desk, staring at the wall, trying to figure out any way to attach those three things to the wall, what comes to mind is doing the same thing I did in the sitting room with the TV and shelves.

So as of this moment, my plan is to do something like this with at least two tall shelves that can hold the TV, landscape plan, and color map, and then leave plenty of room for other artwork and colorful items.

It allows me plenty of room to display any art projects I’ve just finished and want to display, and the bottom shelf has room to tuck tables away.

So far, literally only one thing has crossed my mind. I don’t know if it’s because it’s a really great idea for the wall, or because my mind is stuck in a rut and can’t think beyond that idea. But I’m open to any suggestions! The highest part of the wall is about 11.5 feet high. I don’t think I necessarily need to fill every bit of space, but whatever goes on that wall needs to be substantial and proportional to the area. Unless someone has an amazing, mind-blowing idea that I haven’t thought of yet I’ll plan the shelf idea.
