World MS Day was launched in 2009 by its global members, including the Multiple Sclerosis International Federation (MSIF) and the National MS Society. It is a global effort to raise awareness and bring us closer to a world free of MS. The theme of World MS Day 2024-2025 is Diagnosis.

Diagnosis and treatment can be difficult

The location and degree of nerve injury in the central nervous system can affect symptoms. MS is very unpredictable and different people have different combinations of symptoms, so diagnosis and treatment can be challenging.

Efforts are being made to educate people about blood test, spinal tab, MRI and other tests for its diagnosis. At the same time, hospitals and labs are increasing the facilities for these tests everywhere.

Treatment is based on symptoms (multiple sclerosis treatment)

The goal of multiple sclerosis (MS) treatment is to control symptoms, stop disease progression, and increase overall quality of life. Medications to reduce inflammation and prevent disease recurrence include immunosuppressants, disease-modifying therapies, and corticosteroids.

Specific symptoms such as pain, fatigue, and muscle stiffness are treated with symptomatic therapy. Speech, occupational, and physical therapy can produce positive improvements in function and mobility. Improvement in lifestyle activities such as a balanced diet, stress management and regular exercise may lead to improvement in the condition.

In more severe cases, technical treatments such as surgery or stem cell therapy are considered. Management of MS requires customized treatment regimens.
